Niki Kennedy Biography


Originally from New Zealand, and of Polynesian descent, Niki moved across the world at the age of 16 to attend the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto, Canada.

In addition to her diploma, she also holds advanced certification from Trinity College London, has completed examinations through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, as well as correspondence courses through Berklee College of Music in Music Business and Technology.

Niki is no stranger to the stage having played roles such as Sally Bowles in Cabaret, the title role in The Pied Piper, Cyndi Lauper in A Very 80’s Alice, Dodo in Absolute Alice, and Lady Nijo/Nell in Top Girls to name a few.

She is also an avid songwriter, her music a sultry mix of soaring ballads and heartfelt groove conveying an integrity and emotional honesty far beyond her years.

Niki is a former member of Backtrack Band, Toronto’s leading Motown Dance Band, and has spent the past few years performing as a solo artist and as a 3-4 piece cover band.

She was the 2014 Runner Up of the Bell Media Television Series featuring singer-songwriters, and following her appearance, was in an Artist Development Program with Coalition Music.

Having moved to British Columbia in 2016, Niki is excited to immerse herself in the industry and contribute to a vibrant theatre and music scene.
